We were disappointed that the OG Love Bug theme song did not make an appearance and in general the lack of taking advantage of the abundance of french pop songs of the 1960s was incredibly disappointing.

The Love Bug falls 'hood-over-wheels' for a classy chassis! Check these facts for the wedding invite.

  1. The car that Herbie falls in love with is a 1977 Lancia Montecarlo.

  2. At the time of the movie release, Baskin and Robbins did a promotional ice cream flavor tie in called "Monte Carlo Crunch". The author does not remember the specific flavor and makeup of the ice cream used for the flavor.

  3. Dean Jones' last starring role in a Disney feature film. Jones would later reprise his role as Jim Douglas in the little known TV productions Herbie, the Love Bug (1982) and The Wonderful World of Disney: The Love Bug (1997).

  4. The diamond's name translates to "star of joy."

  5. Second of three theatrical feature film collaborations of actor Don Knotts and director Vincent McEveety. The movies are [in order]: 'Gus' (1976), 'Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo' (1977) and 'The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again' (1979). All of these flicks were from the Walt Disney Pictures movie studio.
