Jungle Cruise (2021)."Mam, don't forget to collect your baggage, I'm only kidding he's behind you."

This week we enter uncharted territory...to be blunt we went on a cruise. Unsure if it was a winner or sunk like a rock. Jungle Cruise from 2021! One of the newest Disney films. Check it out now!

Storyline :1916. Dreaming about saving countless lives and having another adventure, the feisty English feminist and doctor of botany, Dr Lily Houghton, embarks on a peril-laden mission to change the world. Along with her fashionable brother, MacGregor, Dr Houghton enlists the help of the arrogant, wisecracking riverboat skipper, Captain Frank Wolff, to guide them through the serpentine Amazon River in La Quila, his swift wooden boat. Now, as the intrepid trio ventures deeper and deeper into the heart of an impenetrable green maze, searching for something that cannot be found, a centuries-old curse and the ruthless aristocrat, Prince Joachim, threaten to put an end to their ambitious plans. And, sooner or later, the jungle always wins. Is it true that the Spanish conquistador, Don Aguirre, was lost in the same God-forsaken part of the world?

Not so much in terms of "songs" in this ride based film but we did enjoy this Metallica cover.

No other adventure gets this wild, let's hope the facts are tamer.

  1. Many of the puns Frank uses are taken directly from the Disney Parks attraction on which the movie is based. These "so bad they're good" jokes are one of the reasons why Jungle Cruise skippers are so important to the ride experience.

  2. The arrowhead was discovered by "Dr. Albert Falls." This is a reference to a joke often used by skippers on the theme park ride: "These are the famous Schweizer Falls, named for their discoverer: Dr. Albert Falls."

  3. Emily Blunt's character is named Lily Houghton. Katharine Hepburn's full name is Katharine Houghton Hepburn. She is a heavy influence on the movie because she starred in The African Queen (1951). There are many similarities between the two.

  4. "Trader" Sam is depicted as a man in the original Disney Parks attraction, though he also wears a top hat.

  5. Jack Whitehall was attracted to the part of Emily Blunt's brother mainly because the character reminded him of his father who he has played alongside in the Netflix travelogue series, Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father (2017).
