Does this movie have us nailing triple axels or are gonna sit this one out and eat popcorn? Find out now!

Storyline :A high-school bookworm transforms into a swan. Brainy Casey Carlyle has never quite fit in. Caught between her fantasy of becoming a championship figure skater and her strong-willed mother, who has her on the fast track to Harvard, she can only hope to be like Nikki, Tiffany and Gen--three elite skating prodigies who are ruthlessly competing on the US National circuit (and have attitudes to match). But when Casey gets the chance to train with Gen and her coach, a disgraced former skating champion who also happens to be Gen's mother, she must dash her own mother's hopes in order to pursue her dream. Now, with only the support of Gen's teenage brother, a hunky Zamboni driver, Casey takes on the challenge of her life when she finds herself competing against the best to make it into the championship circuit and become a real "ice princess."

From Scholastic to Fact-Tastic

  1. Michelle Trachtenberg had never skated before. She learned professional skating for this movie in 10 months.

  2. Both mom and daughter relationship actresses share the same birthday. For instance, Michelle Trachtenberg and Joan Cusack share the same birthday, October 11, but not the same year. Hayden Panettiere and Kim Cattrall share the same birthday, August 21, but not the same year.

  3. The name "Tina Hardwood" is a reference to Tonya Harding. In the movie, Tina tried to cheat her way to the top by injuring another skater, in the same way Tonya was accused of being involved in the attack on Nancy Kerrigan, a skating competitor.

  4. In one of the first scenes of the movie, Casey is believed to be spying on other figure skaters. In order to prove to Tina and Teddy that she is not, she says that she has a notebook and after Teddy looks though it, he jokingly says that it is spy code. 9 years earlier before this movie came out, Michelle Trachtenberg starred in "Harriet the Spy" (1996). In that movie, she spies on other people and writes down things about them in a notebook.

  5. Ice Princess (2005) made Zahra Lari, a Muslim in the United Arab Emirates, take up figure skating , become an Olympics 2018 hopeful, and inspire more freedom for women.
